Melnik is the smallest city in Bulgaria. It is located in the south-west of Pirin mountain. The city is famous with it’s earth pyramids, which present a fairy-tail of natural sculptures with different shape and outline - the most impressive is with a shape of sand mushrooms. Melnik is famous for it’s red wine and architectural historical houses.

The legend says that the first settlers were the blinded Samuil soldiers after the battle of Belasica in 1014. Here, they find cure in the miracle water which spring out in the courtyard of an ancient church “Saint Teodor Tiron and Teodor Stratilat”. The legend also says that with this miracle water Kliment Ohridski was curing his eyes. Those legends impact the wall-painting of the church build much later in 1614 and in the famous wall-painting of Jesus Christ in the spaceship. The church is in the UNESCO list of cultural monuments.

Pirin is the second highest mountain in Bulgaria. It is located in souht-west Bulgaria and is part of Rila-Rodopa mountain range. It is located between the rivers Struma and Mesta. Pirin is the second highest mountain in Bulgaria and third highest in Balkan peninsula.

Bansko is a historical, architectural and artistic village located in the Pirin mountain. The Museum complex and the museum-houses of the famous people of our past, together with the excellent ski and relaxing activities that the village offers, is a must-visit place in Bulgaria.
